The second year of Give Youth Tools, a fun way to engage youth in science and math through the art of creative reuse, is underway! We'll be unveiling our works of art on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at the Lawrenceville Branch of the Carnegie Library (258 Fisk St.). Drop in between 1 and 3 PM to participate in free shoe-box dollhouse workshops facilitated by Give Youth Tools. All materials provided. Call 412.512.5098 to RSVP!

Creative Reuse Workshops
for Adults:
SANDBLAST YOUR TRASH
Learn to use sandblasting techniques to turn old bottles into new vases and drinking glasses.
Length: 2 hours
Fee: $25 per person
CHALK OF THE TOWN
Use tons of reclaimed materials and simple tools to create a one-of-a-kind message center complete with chalkboard. This workshop is a great introduction to power tools!
Length: Two-1.5 hours sessions or one 3-hour session
Fee: $40 per person
BE A GREENER SCREENER
Turn a heap of funky scrap fabric into a unique, grommeted wall hanging and learn about the art of screen-printing along the way.
Length: 2 hours
Fee: $18 per person

HOUSE OF SHARDS
Become junior architects, designers, and earth-savers while building a unique structure from recycled materials.
Ages 7-11
PAPER CAPERS
Think twice before throwing away used paper as you learn tricks for creating a multitude of artwork from paper -- from origami to sculptural papier mache.
Ages 6-12
EXPLORE THE JUNK DRAWER
Little ones will discover the wonder of textures and colors that abound in the recycle bin and use glue, paints, and more to create earth-friendly works of art.
Ages 4-6
Each children's workshop is 1.5 hours. (Two-hour time
slots available upon request for birthday parties or special
events.)
Fee is $15 per child.
